Cost:

Nothing (except your own materials)!

I’m providing this service for the pure love of it, though I’ll happily accept tips in the form of cash, Venmo, and select delicious beverages. ;)

I might charge in the future for this type of group, but for now, I just miss knitting & guiding others into their knitting practice. Thanks for being here!

what do i need?

I prefer to teach beginners on a 16” circular needle, so we will be knitting in the round. Perfect for a hat, a cowl, or a headband. My top favorite brand is Addi Turbo needles, with the blue cord.

Circular needles come in all different gauges (thickness of the needles themselves). Your needle size will need to match up with the thickness of yarn you want to knit with!

Materials shopping:

It’s great to be able to shop for materials in person. However, we are busy folks, and sometimes ordering online is the only possible choice. Here’s how to find the needles you need:

Addi Turbo circular needle search on Amazon— Remember you’ll need to choose the right size (gauge) of needles to be appropriate with your thickness of yarn. I’m happy to help with this!

For yarn, it is sooo important to be able to see, touch, and even smell the yarn to find out if you want to handle it for hours, and wear it for years! I highly recommend you get to one of our local yarn stores to choose your yarn. They have needles, too!

Purl’s Yarn Emporium (Hendersonville Rd.)

Friends and Fiberworks (deep, deep Candler)

Black Mountain Yarn Shop (Blk Mtn, duh)

Jess’s house— I have quite a stash, and I’d be willing to sell you (at a discount) a yarn that you might like. Reach out if that interests you!
